Happy Phoebe

Hi everyone! I guess my poem worked, I saw Grammie Friday and Saturday! I love her so very, very much. Plus she is going to watch us when Mom and Dad go to see Star Trek on Monday. DSCF2112 (2)

My Purrince sent me a letter and lots of photos. He is such a sweet and handsome boy.

I am so happy that I decided to have a giveaway! It has been so hot that I thought some ice cream might cool you down.

DSCF2113 (2)

The winner will get a catnip mat ( ice cream printed fabric) , a crocheted ice cream cone and a button art card with an ice cream cone on it. I am not going to make it easy though. Mom likes to watch some of her favorite movies during her birthday month of July ( glad that is almost over) so I took some notes. You need to identify the films these quotes are from, the one that gets the most correct will win. If several of you get them all correct then I will have a drawing for the winner. Mom has strange tastes so this is going to be tough. Hint: They are not all Nicolas Cage films. Put your answers in the comments, we will keep the guessing open until Monday 9PM EST, the winner will be announced Tuesday.

  1. ” The blouse man is on the premises”
  2. ” I carried a watermelon”
  3. “Our love fern! You let it die!”
  4. ” You were a shooting star amongst ordinary stars”
  5. “It’s really funny. YOU bought an Edsel. “

MEOW Exhibit at Worcester Art Museum #WAMCATS

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop. I didn’t make any art, but I thought you would like to see some of the art on exhibit at The Worcester Art Museum in Worcester, MA.

There are several famous pieces of cat art on display until September 4th for example,  Woman with a Cat, 1864, Gustave Courbet. There was also cat-inspired art work from the community which was one of my favorite parts.

I don’t know what is wrong with me, but the “real” art didn’t thrill me. Here are 2 examples. DSCF1955DSCF1961

I was much happier with the art of local people. This one was from a lady in my town who always rescues cats and loaned me the trap to catch Brody and the other ferals.

DSCF1997She takes great photos of adoptable kitties.

DSCF1963These are some of my favorites,DSCF1969this one was in memory of a cat that had CKD DSCF2027I love the tummy on this one

They also have a “Cats- In -Residence” program in partnership with the Worcester Animal Rescue League. There are adoptable cats in an enclosure that you can enter and interact with. When I went, there were 4 cats, 2 were hiding and the other 2 were very friendly. They are all adoptable and as they get adopted new ones are added.DSCF1931 (2)My Mom and I were both tempted by this cutie.

You can see a live feed 24/7 if you click here. They are also offering classes to sew catnip toys, take pet photos and many others. None were being offered the day we were there, but they sound like fun. This was a great way to spend my birthday last week.

Friendly Fill-Ins Week 12

Hi everyone! Time for the Friendly Fill-Ins. My link will probably not work, but I know my co-host, Annie at McGuffy’s Reader will have a working link. I have contacted the linky developer and was told wordpress sometimes adds to the code to “protect”, I can’t see any additions, but it doesn’t usually work.
1. One quirk I have is ___________________.

2. My favorite comic strip is MUTTS, I LOVE HOW THEY DO SHELTER STORIES AND PROMOTE ADOPTIONS. PLUS MOOCHIE WITH HIS LIL’ PINK SOCK IS ADORABLE.
3. I am really happy WITH MY LIFE, I AM BLESSED TO HAVE A GREAT MOM, SWEET KITTIES, A LOVING HUBBY AND LOTS OF BLOGGING FRIENDS.
4. If I could go anywhere on a road trip, I WOULD GO TO NYC! ALTHOUGH IT IS A LITTLE TOO HOT RIGHT NOW.

Phoebe’s Poetry

Hi everyone! It has been a tough week, I haven’t seen my Grammie all week. I love her so very much. My poem will explain why I haven ‘t seen her.

DSCF2097 Apparently Mom is following the advice of the book she recommended the other day- The Joy of Leaving Your Sh*t All Over the Place.

I was so happy yesterday morning. Mom put Brody in a carrier and I thought she was bringing him to a new home, but he just went for his rabies shot. It has been 5 months since he was rescued so he was allowed to get his rabies shot. Mom also retested for FELV/FIV and that was negative. She is still waiting on heartworm results. He got basic blood work too and that was good.

Flat Scouts Maggie and Felix are visiting. They made this for their Mom

DSCF2089

Today is my friend, Sammy’s Poetry Day featuring the letter G, mine is titled The Great One ( that is what I call Grammie’s Great grand-daughter) .

Great one, you have been here almost  9 months
and I have only met you once.
My Grammie you have stolen
and that upsets my colon
All you do is drool
I can’t wait ’til your old enough for school
then I can have my Grammie back.

poetrysambadge

And that is why I never get to see my Grammie!!! Phooey!

Mom asked me to give you the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. She came up with the first 2 and our friend, Annie of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the second 2.

1. One quirk I have is ___________________.

2. My favorite comic strip is ________________________.

3. I am really happy                                           .
4. If I could go anywhere on a road trip, I would go to                                .

Guest Post

MaggieScoutHi everyone! We are lucky to have a guest post today from Cat Scout Maggie.

Howdy everyone!  Like most peeps and kitties we know, you are probably getting into the political swing!  Convention last week; another one this week.  There are so many impawtant things for our peeps to think about when choosing a favorite candidate, but I’d like to urge all of you to persuade your humans to check out the humane/animal awareness records of their state and local candidates.

Many federal laws that protect animals and advance animal rights start at the local and state level.  Tell your peeps to check out the voting and legislative records of their candidates.  Did they vote or advocate FOR or AGAINST us and our fellow furry friends?

Voting for animal-friendly candidates will help advance the cause of animal protection and animal rights in your area, and can spread to other areas.  Some states are even considering awarding “personhood” status to animals so that in instances of custody, control or prosecution, animals that have been victimized or abused will have the same rights as humans.  Let’s meow to our peeps to get informed and involved!!  Grumpyvote

Thank mew all!  Please stay cool and well hydrated, especially as the election season heats up!!

Our Winnings!

Hi everyone! Mom is letting me write today too so I can tell you all about the great swag we won from Savannah. Thank you Savannah for sharing your loot with us and thank you to Cupcake, the Jack Russell that had won, but told Savvy to pass it to the next in line.

DSCF1882 This bag was filled with goodies! Mom thought she could have the bag, but we decided it makes a nice bed.

DSCF1890 Look at all this loot!

DSCF1892Sammy likes the wand toy the best

DSCF1894and so does Brody.

DSCF2073 Miss Piggy Joanie claimed these Wellness Kittles Tuna and Cranberry treats.

DSCF2088 She wanted these socks too until I explained they are for chairs so they won’t scratch the floor.

DSCF2079 (2)KaTwo loves the laser

DSCF2076There were 2 shirts for Dad, this one and a Blog Paws one.

DSCF2086Penny was happy with the box

DSCF2074and this tin filled with nip is mine all mine.

There was a lot more stuff too like a Hauspanther nip toy and cardboard toys too! And there was even a little bottle of vodka too- Mom and Dad are going to use it when they make horseradish, it keeps it better than vinegar does. There was room spray, hairball medicine, lots of food samples, can covers and a notebook for Mom. Thank you!

momma-kats-search-badge Savannah shared a story about a Momma Kat and her kittens in need of a home. It is sad, but the ending was good. Please visit and spread the word to help them get forever homes. Click here

I hope my Grammie comes to visit me soon, I love her so very much!

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Book Date’s  It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? Blog Hop and Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays Blog Hop.

DSCF1915

I hope no one is offended by the title of this book, but it is a riot. The Joy of Leaving Your Sh*t All Over the Place by Jennifer McCartney is an anti declutter book. I am always so obsessed with organizing and decluttering that I thought it  would be fun to try the opposite and it was. After reading it I am not as eager as I was to declutter. She has some great points , for example, all the decluttering books tell you to get rid of your books and switch to e-books. How can you judge a person , if they don’t have any books? She also reminds us that our clothes don’t have feelings so they won’t feel bad if we leave them on the floor. I think I will pick my clothes up for fear of a kitty peeing on them, but I am keeping my books 🙂

Friendly Fill-Ins Week 11

Hi everyone! Thank you to everyone who has been participating in the fill-ins and thank you to any newbies too. Remember, if you don’t have a blog, you can still put your answers in the comments.

If when my link doesn’t work, my co-host, Annie of McGuffy’s Reader will have a working one on her blog for you to link up.

1. I wish I could afford to hire someone to _____________________________________.

2. Zucchini ____________________________________________.
3. One Summertime memory I recall is                                          .

4. This Summer,
My answers:
1. I wish I could afford to hire someone to BE MY DRIVER, I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY SO I AM LIMITED TO WHERE I CAN GO UNLESS MY MOM IS WILLING TO DRIVE ( HUBBY DOESN’T LIKE HIGHWAYS EITHER). I WOULD GO TO NYC SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR IF I HAD A DRIVER.
2. Zucchini IS MY FAVORITE VEGETABLE AND I AM LOVING IT FRESH FROM THE GARDEN.  I HAVE MADE STIR FRY, ZUCCHINI QUICHE, ZUCCHINI CASSEROLE ( 2 KINDS) AND I NEVER GET SICK OF IT.
3. One Summertime memory I recall is EATING ESKIMO PIES WITH MY GRANDPA ON MY GRANDPARENT’S FRONT PORCH. HE HAS BEEN GONE SINCE 1984, BUT I STILL THINK OF HIM EVERY TIME I HAVE A KLONDIKE BAR ( Not sure if they still make Eskimo pies).
4. This Summer, I WANT TO DO A LOT OF DECLUTTERING, BUT IT HAS BEEN TOO HOT TO DO ANYTHING.
Have a nice weekend everyone!DSCF1854
