Hi everyone! We have a Chewy review for you today, but first I want to thank everyone for their responses yesterday to my question(s). I am thankful to be a part of such a caring group of people who value cats ( and all animals). When I told my therapist that most people I knew felt the way I do about cats, he doubted it , but now I have plenty of proof that you do. We all value our furbabies and feel quality of life is top priority before expenses. Now on to that review.

This month we tried Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Venison and Green Pea Formula Canned Cat Food. It is on sale for $18.96 for 24 cans ( 3 oz.), it comes in larger cans too. To order click here and remember shipping is always free on orders over $49*

There are quite a few ingredients for limited: Venison, Venison Broth, Venison Liver, Ground Peas, Natural Flavor, Venison Meal, Salmon Oil, Canola Oil, Vitamins (Choline Chloride, Vitamin E Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Niacin Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin Supplement, Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement), Dicalcium Phosphate, Guar Gum, Salt, Minerals (Zinc Proteinate, Zinc Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Iron Proteinate, Copper Sulfate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese Sulfate, Manganese Proteinate, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite), Taurine, Flaxseed Meal, Kelp Meal, Cranberries, Dl- Methionine, Potassium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Carrageenan, Yucca Schidigera Extract.

Prancie has food allergies so I especially  wanted this for her:

dscf2626-2She liked it

dscf2625 dscf2627-2 dscf2629So did Phoebe, Snowball, Tallulah and Polar Bear ( check out his thumbs).

It was a hit with 10 out of 13. The other 3 were excluded because Sammy has a special diet, Joanie spews when she eats canned food and KaTwo will only eat dry food.

*We received this food for free from Chewy in exchange for a fair review. All opinions are our own.

And the question for P.S. Annie’s 19-Somethin Challenge is:What do you remember most about the year you turned 19? I met my hubby that year ūüôā

A Question For All

Hi everyone! This week I am skipping some hops to ask an important question, but first I need to give you some background. I know I have written before, but just in case you are a new reader I will fill you in. In 2010 when I reached the magic number of 15 cats and the end of my hubby’s patience, I started to see a therapist. I never want to be a hoarder, I want to help cats and I need to be able to care for the ones I have and give them a clean place to live and medical care. Since then I have never surpassed the number 15.

During these past 6 years, I have spent a small fortune on my cats to keep sick ones alive. I am always willing to use my maximum credit card limit if there is any hope of helping one of my cats. Last week, my therapist told me about some people he knows that are financially better off than I am, but they set a limit on what they would spend to save their cat. He said they love it, but it is “just a cat”. This really angered me and I told him that I hope karma bites those people in the *ss. I also told him I am glad that the people I know realize there is no such thing as “just a cat”. Their lives matter as much as a human one. I don’t understand how anyone could spend any time with a cat and not feel this way.

My question for all of you is- would you set a limit on spending because it is just a cat? I realize most of us do have to make money based choices, but that is to meet basic needs, I am asking if you could afford to spend any amount would you still set a limit? And do you think in the terms of “just a cat”? I appreciate everyone’s input even if you don’t agree with me ( although, I am hoping you do). Thank you!

And P.S. Annie’s 19-Somethin Challenge Question is What is Something About Your Younger Years you would not change? I would not change the time spent with my grandparents, I do wish they lived longer.

And the question for P.S. Annie’s 19-Somethin is : If you could go back in time to your childhood, would you? Mom says no way, she wouldn’t want to mess up the timeline because she is very happy where she is now. ( She watches too much sci-fi).

And now for those selfies:

And for P.S.Annie’s 19-Somethin’ Challenge the question is: Is there another song that makes you reminiscent of your teenage years? No particular song, but anytime I hear a song by Boston, Journey, Chicago or Billy Idol it reminds me of my teen years.

October is almost here and Penny’s boyfriend Toby told us about a fun challenge we are going to join.¬† Here is the link.

#Remember the Rescue

Hi everyone!  I have so much to tell you, but first I want to remind you that today is #Remember Me Thursday to bring awareness to all pets in need of forever homes. Click here to learn more about it. Several of us came from shelters, Joanie and Sammy came from Second Chance and Snowball and KaTwo came from the Secaucus New Jersey Animal Shelter.

Mom entered Snowball’s photo with the hope of helping the shelter win much needed food. If you have a pet from a shelter, you can enter on the website or just post a photo on Instagram or Twitter and label it #RemembertheRescue.

I got to see Grammie yesterday and she will be here today to feed us snacks cat sit while Mom and Dad are out. I love her so very much.

And Sammy wants to thank his friend Sammy K. for his birthday card:

sammypbirthday2016¬† it is also time for Sammy’s poetry Day featuring the letter O. I have written a haiku for my purrince.

I love my purrince
he is my one and only
I am so blessed

And I will let Mom answer the question for P.S. Annie’s 19-Somethin Challenge is When did you first live on your own? Did you buy or rent your first home?¬† Does living in the college dorm count as living on your own? If so, I was 18. I lived at college for 4 years, coming home for the summer and a lot of weekends too. After college, I lived at home for a year until I got married and then moved in with my hubby. Fortunately, he already owned a home and I hope we will be here for the rest of our lives. Here is a photo taken right after the new roof and siding were put on in 2010.

And here are the friendly fill-ins for tomorrow:

1. The last movie I saw at the theater was _________________________________.
2. The title of my autobiography would be _____________________________________

3. I would love to learn                                   .
4. I am glad that I learned                                    , because                           .

Guest Post with Cat Scout Maggie

32-Maggie-Cougar-Nov-2015Hi everyone! We usually have a guest post every other week, but Cat Scout Maggie was so excited to tell you about some new books that she is with us this week. Take it away Miss Maggie.

Thank you, Auntie Ellen, for giving me the opportunity to give 4 paws up for two new great books!  Hi, everyone!  We have recently heard two authors interviewed on public radio, and their books have also been reviewed in various newspapers.  These two books should definitely join your libraries!

Pets on the Couch, by Nicholas Dodman, DVM and professor at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine.¬† Dr. Dodman has written several books about animal psychology and behavior, and this one takes us into the inner thought processes of some of the pets he’s cared for over the years.¬† While they’re not all cats, the book certainly includes cats!

Dr. Dodman discusses pet problems and solutions in a very down-to-earth way, so our pawrents can maybe help solve some of our challenges and foibles!  The pioneering veterinarian and author of the New York Times bestseller, The Dog Who Loved Too Much, and the national bestseller, The Cat Who Cried for Help, recounts his stories of treating animals for human-like problems, while discussing his amazing breakthroughs with the new science of One Medicine.pets-on-the-couch

” Inspiring, sometimes heartbreaking, and utterly fascinating, Pets on the Couch demonstrates how what we share with our animals can only lead us to a greater appreciation for them‚ÄĒand our mutual bonds.” ¬†¬† book review excerpt

The Trainable Cat, by writer John Bradshaw and Sarah Ellis, feline behaviorist.  Mr. Bradshaw has published other books about dog and cat behaviors, and he has teamed up with Ms. Ellis to tackle our feline challenges!!   This book covers many cat behaviors that can be solved, including litter box problems, introducing new cats into the household, and dealing with cat phobias and eccentricities!  Wow, maybe our pawrents should NOT read it.  Can we possibly be tamed?thetrainablecat

Happy reading, dear 15 and Meowing Fans!

Thank you Maggie, I plan to read both of these books.

Purrball Meets Burrball in Brazil

Hi everyone! I have an adorable children’s book to tell you about today. Purrball Meets Burrball in Brazil by Anne Zoet is the sweetest children’s picture book I have seen in a long time. The illustrations are adorable and I love that Purrball is blue. dscf2581-2

Purrball’s family ( a Mom, Dad and little boy named Darryl) are moving to Brazil for a year. When they arrive at the airport, there is an earthquake and Purrball runs away. He ends up in the jungle and befriends a sloth he names Burrball.

I like how modern the story is which includes a cell phone. I also like how they keep Purrball in the plane with them instead of in cargo. I look forward to more books about the adventures of Purrball and Burrball. You can even go to their website purrballandburrball.com and download puzzles and mazes for children. This book is for ages 3-9, but I am going to start reading it to “The Great One” now even though she is only 10 months old. I guess I will have to wait a while for her to do the puzzles though ūüôā

You can order your own copy from Amazon.

*Disclaimer: I was given a copy of Purrball Meets Burrball for free in exchange for a fair review. All opinions are my own.

We don’t want to miss Book Date’s¬† It’s Monday! What are YOU Reading?

dscf2541 I just finished This Star Won’t Burn Out by Esther Earl. Esther was 12 when diagnosed with a rare thyroid cancer. She survived for 4 and a half years with experimental treatments. She spent most of her time at home where she reached out on the internet and made friends all over the world that were Harry Potter Fans like she was. Despite being so sick, she still managed to live and was very close with her parents, 4 siblings and 2 cats ( Blueberry and Pancake). Her positive attitude and belief in God through everything left me in awe of her.

The way I found this book was odd. It is in the young adult section in Barnes and Noble. I went down that aisle on my way top the bathroom and her sweet face on the cover caught my eye. I believe I was meant to read her story and spread the word about it. I recommend this book to everyone, I will warn you to have your tissues ready toward the end.

We hope our pirates are Awwwww…….worthy for Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays blog hop.

And the question for P.S.Annie’s 19-Somethin Challenge is : Did you have a favorite car?I didn’t have a certain car I wanted, but I loved my grandfather’s old blue Gremlin that was my first car.

Who is Elmo?

Hi everyone! I have a question- who is Elmo? Every time my Mom comes home from babysitting “The Great One”, she keeps singing Elmo’s Got the Moves. What kind of moves? Very confusing.

I haven’t seen Grammie again since Wednesday. I hope I see her soon, I love her so very much. I am enjoying my treats though, Mom gives me some every time she stuffs a pill down my throat and blows in my face- that is kind of rude, the blowing in my face part, not the treat part.dscf2530-2

Tomorrow is Meow Like a Pirate Day, we are all being difficult with the photo shoots except for suck up Brody.dscf2536-2

The question for P.S. Annie’s 19-Somethin challenge today is Did you like to roller skate? My Mom did like to roller skate and there was a small roller rink right down the street that was open on Saturday nights. She used to skate outside too. FYI she can’t ice skate though.

We are joining The Cat on My Head’s Sunday Selfie Blog Hop.
